About Stafford Rambling Group

Stafford Rambling Group is a voluntary walking group which is affiliated to the Ramblers Association. We have almost 100 members.

We are an active group with a programme of weekly walks. Most of our walks take place on Sundays usually alternating between morning and all day walks.

Morning walks are approximately 5 miles and take place within a 20 mile radius  of Stafford.

All day walks are usually 10 to 12 miles but we do occasionally try something more ambitious and we tend to go further afield particularly in the Summer months..

We like to think that we are a friendly crowd and there is no great formality about joining in a walk. You do not have to contact the leader in advance; just turn up at the right time at the meeting point which is Castle Hill Car Park, Stafford (behind Stafford College next to Broadeye windmill).

Don't worry if you do not have a car. We encourage car sharing and there is no great difficulty about getting a lift. Drivers may ask each passenger for a contribution towards fuel (up to 20p per mile)

We organise some events where booking is usually necessary, including;

two weekends away each year (one around Easter and one in October) a Christmas meal
at least one coach ramble a year barn dances and skittles
a dinner ramble when we have a meal together at the end of the walk

In time we hope you will lead walks. we have a library of maps that you can borrow to help in planning these.
